She was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Margueritte Smalley.
Florence was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church and worked as a secretary for Ayers Carpet Warehouse. She also owned her own ceramics business where she taught classes and was an avid Hallmark ornament collector and member of the Hallmark Golden Club.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Herbert R. Ayers; children, Felicia Nelson, Howard Ayers; grandchildren, Heather McNamee, Jordan Ayers, Alec Ayers, Eric Ayers, Sarah Ayers, Caleb Ayers; and three great-grandchildren, Lee McNamee, Aidan McNamee, Claire Robinson.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, April 26, at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., Richmond, Va. 23231. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 27, at Calvary United Methodist Church, 1637 Williamsburg Rd., Richmond, Va. 23231 with interment to follow in Oakwood Cemetery.
