Eugene F. Gallagher

Eugene F. Gallagher, 55, passed away after a brief battle with cancer on February 7, 2022 at McGuire Veterans Hospital in Richmond, VA. Gene was born in West Islip, NY and made his home in Fredericksburg, VA. Eugene worked as an environmental engineer, spending many years with NRG Energy in Morgantown, MD. He enjoyed target shooting, coin collecting, playing the guitar, cheering on the Carolina Hurricanes and Philadelphia Eagles, and spending time with family. He proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps for five years with postings in North Carolina, Washington, and California. Gene achieved the rank of Lance Corporal and receiving several citations, including the National Defense Service Medal. Gene is survived by his mother Grace Gallagher, his siblings Ann (John) Kent, Joe (Kathy) Gallagher, Ed (Judy) Gallagher, Tom (Janine) Gallagher, John (Terri) Gallagher and Michael (Kristin) Gallagher and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his father Joseph Gallagher. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends. The family will be honoring Gene with a funeral and memorial service with military honors in the spring with time and location to be determined.
