Elizabeth (Bette) Hogge, was born in Hampton, Va., May 22, 1935 and passed away November 23, 2014. She was preceded in death by her parents John Lewis and Virginia Curtis Hogge; her husband Charles Read Morton, Jr.; and her daughter Ann French Morton McCray.
She is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Barham (Mark); son in law George McCray; four grandchildren, Troy and Kelsey Barham, and Cowles and Read McCray; her sisters, Virginia Atkins and Martha Forrest; brother, John W. Hogge; and many nieces and nephews.
She came to Richmond in 1956 and has been a lifelong member of the Presbyterian church. First as a member of 1st Church in Hampton then Westminster and Tuckahoe Presbyterian churches in Richmond. In serving the Presbyterian church, she has been an elder, President of W.O.C. and moderator of Hanover Presbytery to name a few. She attended Longwood College, now Longwood University. She will be missed by her family and many friends deeply.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8pm, Friday, November 28, at the Parham Chapel of Woody Funeral Home, 1771 N Parham Rd., Richmond. A private burial will take place at Westhampton Memorial Park. Memorial services will be held at 11am, on Saturday, November 29, 2014, at Tuckahoe Presbyterian Church, 7000 Park Ave., Richmond, Va 23226.
