Dorothy Grigg Hill

Dorothy Grigg Hill, 93, of Sandston, passed away on Sunday, February 13, 2022. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Denton Hill Jr.; first husband, Alexander Marshall Anderson; and siblings, Nicholas Grigg, Ruth Gordon. Dorothy graduated from Buckingham County High School and worked as a bookkeeper with Anderson Motor Sales in Dillwyn, Va. After retirement, she focused her energy on her most fulfilling role as a mother and homemaker. She was a lifelong member of New Bridge Baptist Church, where she served her community in many ways as a volunteer. In her spare time, Dorothy enjoyed being outdoors tending to her garden, reading and crocheting. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Jane Anderson Stakem (Ed), Julie Hill-Payne (George); grandchildren, Kristie, Trip, Brandon, Ben, Andrew, Gabriella; eight great-grandchildren; brother, George Ashley Grigg (Peggy); as well as a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, February 19, 2022 at New Bridge Baptist Church, 5701 Elko Rd., Sandston, Va. 23150, with a visitation one hour prior to the service. A private interment will be held at a later date in Washington Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to New Bridge Baptist Church, P.O. Box 9, Sandston, Va. 23150.
