David was born March 12th, 1964 in Richmond, Va. to Joseph H. “Joe” Taylor, Sr. and Nancy Laffoon Taylor. David loved being with his family and spending time with them at his happy place, the beach house, known as “Second Chance” in the Outer Banks. He loved to watch his granddaughters cheer, dance, and play softball. He enjoyed hunting and surf fishing, where he would spend all day and night on the beach fishing, no matter what the weather conditions were. He participated in the 4 Plus and Capital City Four Wheelers fishing tournaments held in Hatteras, NC for over 35 years. David was a retired employee of Phillip Morris (Altria) where he served as a Supervisor. David never met a stranger and greeted everyone with a smile.
The family will receive friends on August 26th at 1:00 p.m. at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., Richmond, Va. 23231, followed by a celebration of life service held at 2:00 p.m. A reception will follow at his son and daughter-in-law’s home. If you knew David, he was not a coat and tie kind of guy, so dress casual. Something beach or fishing related would be great.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Cape Hatteras National Seashore foundation.
