Charles was a drill sergeant in the Air Force stationed mostly in Germany. He was a former member of International Hot Rod Association, IHRA (drag racing). He would race his 1968 Camaro and a rail car in Virginia and South Carolina drag races. Charles owned and operated a Pizza shop in Downtown Richmond. He is a former member of the VA Automobile Dealers Association and finally owned and operated used car dealerships and moped shops in Highland Springs.
Charles Leaves to cherish his memory, wife, Claire Kennedy; daughter, Kate Kennedy (Clifton Leininger); stepchildren, Douglas Mitchell, Tabb Justis, Kimberly Taylor (Tim), Tina Justis, and Prudence Justis (Paul Curly); grandchildren, Nixon Nunnally, Lincoln Kennedy, and Charles Leininger; step grandchildren, Christian Morrison, Stuart Shepard, Olivia Justis, Virginia Justis, Zoe Shepard, and Kari Morrison, and siblings, Ronnie Kennedy and his children Tammy Buelheller, Tracy Finney and Joshua Kennedy and Christina Lawrence (Larry) and their daughter Kelly Mahurin and John Shackleford (deceased).

A private memorial service will be held at Dinwiddie Race Track on Saturday, August 6, 2022 at 11AM.
