Cecil G. Sawyer, Jr., 90, of Henrico, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, August 16, 2017. He was an Army veteran and a member of Grove Avenue Baptist Church. Cecil was preceded in death by his parents, Lillie and Cecil Sawyer, Sr.; and his brother, Melvin Sawyer. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 64 years, Catherine Sawyer; daughter, Kathy Sawyer; grandcat, ButterCup; one granddaughter and three great grandchildren, of New York; and one niece, Pat Keyser, of Florida. A funeral service will take place at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., Richmond, Va. 23231 on Wednesday, August 23, at 11 a.m. with a visitation one hour prior. Interment will follow in Washington Memorial Park. Memorial donations may be made to Grove Avenue Baptist Church, Music Ministry.
