Betty Mae Vaught

Betty Mae Vaught was born November 30, 1929, in Krebs, Oklahoma to Erastus Francis Vaught and Myrtle Elizabeth Vaught. She went to her heavenly home September 9th, 2022. at the age of 92 in St. Mary's hospital Richmond, VA. Betty made her home at Lakewood Manor in Richmond for 11 years.
Betty attended Krebs elementary school, graduating with honors from McAlester high school in 1947. She went to work then as secretary to the district manager of Long Bell Lumber Company, McAlester, Oklahoma, and worked there for 14 years.
She studied at Oklahoma Baptist University's extension in McAlester and Oklahoma University College for continuing education. 1962 she joined the staff at First Baptist Church McAlester as secretary.
In 1970 she was employed as a missionary associate for the organization of Southern Baptist missionaries in Hong Kong and Macao. She served there as secretary, business manager and treasurer for the Hong Kong Baptist mission, devoting her life to several countries around the world. She always sent home souvenirs and had wonderful stories of her adventures.
Betty was predeceased by her parents, sisters Lucile Vaught Thomas and Dorothy Vaught Wells Pyle, brothers Orin, Lyle, Raymond and Sherman Vaught, and a special great-niece Staci Keasling.
She leaves behind nieces Emily Mehelich Keasling (James) of Muskogee, Oklahoma, and Donna Wells Eichling (Yates Morell) of Robertsdale, Alabama. Nephews Elbert Wells Jr. (Sharla) of Stroud, numerous great-nieces, nephews, and many wonderful friends.
We know God probably has said to her. "Well done my good and faithful servant."
Rest in Peace
There will be a viewing at Woody Funeral Home - Parham in Richmond on Monday, September 19th from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM. She will be transferred to Chaney-Harkins Funeral Home in McAlester, Oklahoma where a viewing will be held on Thursday, September 22nd from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
Graveside service will be Friday, September 23, 2022 10:00 AM at Oak Hill Cemetery, family led by nephew Ed Wells Jr.
