Obituary of Anne Stroud Mogel
Anne Stroud Mogel, passed away on September 7, 2022 after a long struggle with dementia. The disease was able to take her life, but never could take her sense of humor, love of her family and kindness to her caregivers. She was predeceased by her mother and father, Otto and Margaret Stroud. She is survived by her loving husband of 54 years Ron; her devoted sons, Scott (Michelle), Matthew (Jennifer), and Ryan (Laura); five grandchildren, Blake, Grayson, Barrick, Dylan, and Logan; her three brothers; and many nieces and nephews. Anne was born on September 25, 1940 in Norfolk, Virginia. She grew up in the Virginia Beach area, attending Princess Anne High School. She earned an associate’s degree in art at RPI and was a cheerleader. Anne and Ron met in Norfolk when he was a Navy Officer and married shortly after he left active service. They lived in Pennsylvania for several years before moving to Richmond in 1971. She raised three boys and was very active in Henrico schools, little league, and Ginter Park Presbyterian Church. As the boys grew, not a sports fan, she endured years of watching competitions (including wrestling, which was traumatic for her). During the rearing of boys, she managed the household finances, took care of her husband, and maintained an Avon sales territory. Anne enjoyed hosting large family gatherings, which included a family reunion every summer and large Thanksgiving dinners at their river cottage. Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. and a service will begin at 3:00 p.m. on September 10, 2022 at Woody Funeral Home Parham Road Chapel, 1771 N. Parham Rd, Richmond, VA 23229. After the service, the family would like to invite friends to Crestwood Presbyterian Church, 1200 Charter Colony Drive, Midlothian, VA 23114 for a time of fellowship. Internment will be on Monday September 12, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at the Veterans Cemetery of Amelia, 10300 Pridesville Rd, Amelia Court House, VA 23002. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Alzheimer’s Association.
