In 1946, Ms. Wilson graduated from Jasper Henderson High School. She accepted Christ at an early age and her Christian faith carried her for 95 years. Ms. Eddie was lovingly known as "Granny."
In 1949, Ms. Eddie relocated from Louisiana to California where she settled in the San Francisco bay area. She moved to Oakland and started a family of her own and had three children, Carol Newman, Robert Hassen, and Merreanette Martin.
Ms. Eddie always loved to cook even at a young age. She started her culinary career working for the National Maritime Union of America as a Chef for military personnel stationed on Treasure Island. She later went on to work at the Jolly Inn in Berkeley, CA. After working there for many years, she bought the business and continued to run it for years.
She joined Bethany Baptist Church over fifty years ago. She loved the Lord with all of her heart.
Ms. Eddie was always well-dressed and known for her suits and matching hats. She and her two sisters in Christ, Doris Burns and Helen Turner, kept things under control; they didn't miss anything and if you got the 'eye', you were in trouble. She was a member of the Mission Board, the Homecoming Committee, and the Pastor's Support Committee.
Ms. Eddie loved her family and friends, dressing up in her big hats with matching shoes and handbags; browsing through catalogs, doing word search puzzles, fishing, and chatting on the phone with family and friends.
She raised her grandson Rikki Cole, II from a young age and he truly was, her pride and joy. As her health began to decline, he was right by her side caring for her in the same fashion that she cared for him. She fussed and fought but he never gave up. She would jokingly say, "Rikki thinks he's my daddy."
In accordance with God's Divine Plan, Ms. Eddie left her earthly home on Wednesday, August 18, 2021. She will be missed dearly.
A celebration of life for Ms. Eddie Lee Wilson will be held on Tuesday, August 31, 2021, at 11:00 AM at Fuller Funerals, Inc, 3100 Cutting Blvd, Richmond, CA 94804, and the interment will follow at Rolling Hills Memorial Park, 4100 Hilltop Drive, Richmond, CA 94803.
