Ronald Root

Ronald Dennis Root, also known as “Ron” or “Ronnie”, age 85, of Buffalo, passed away on August 18, 2019 at Senior Living in Hutchinson, MN. He was preceded in death by Mary Lou Shirley (Opsal) Root. Ronnie served in the US. Army and fought in the Korean War. He was a Trumpet player at Nye's Polonaise for many years, played trumpet with the Country Diamonds, and played TAPS for Ft. Snelling and local V.F.W's. He is survived by his children, Kathy Root, Mark Opsal, Paula Hancer (Burke), Jerry Root, Holly Root, Tracy Berner, 8 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren. Other survivors include his brother/sister in-law Dan Opsal (Linda). Interment Services will be held at Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Tuesday August 27, 2019 at 12:15 PM, GATE 2 – Assembly Area 5 for procession.
