Robert Joseph "Bob" Little, 85, of Richardson, Texas passed away on September 3, 2012. Bob was born in Wilmette, IL on October 30, 1926 to Robert B. and Mary Little. Raised in Wilmette, he attended St. Francis Catholic School and New Trier High School, graduating in 1944. He then enlisted in the U.S. Navy and following the war, attended Brown University in Providence, RI and Mount St. Mary in Emmitsburg, MD. In 1952, he joined Becton-Dickinson Co. in medical sales and relocated to Dallas. In 1955, he married Mary Elizabeth Eckel and moved to Richardson in 1958, where they raised their five children. The family joined St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, where Bob remained a devoted parishioner for the last 54 years. He was actively involved with the parish's Society of St. Vincent De Paul ministry for many years; served as St. Paul's retreat co-captain for Montserrat Retreat House for nearly 40 years; and also volunteered in hospital ministry and prison ministry. Upon his retirement from Becton-Dickinson Co. in 1986, Bob served as the Council Executive Secretary for the Dallas Society of St. Vincent De Paul for over 10 years.
Bob is survived by Mary, his wife of 56 years and their five children and spouses: Patricia Little Kishpaugh of Plano; Robert J. Little, Jr. of Mustang, OK; Mary Ann Little McGregor of Austin; Margaret Little Haerr of Plano; and Nancy Little Carter of Fort Worth; 10 grandchildren; his sister, Virginia Little Waterman Casey; and numerous nieces and nephews. Bob was preceded in death by his other two sisters Florence and Ann; and brother John David.
A rosary will be held at 7 p.m. on Friday, September 7, followed by visitation until 9 p.m. at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Richardson. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 8 at St. Paul's followed by a reception at the church and burial at Calvary Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial gift may be made in Bob's name to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul.
