Leah Alice Corken, 83, passed away on August 19, 2016 of natural causes. She was born in Rock Island, IL on August 13, 1933. As a beautiful young woman, Leah married John and began a lifetime of international adventure making great friendships along the way. Their lives took them to Mexico, Brazil, London and Sun City Center, Florida. Her passions in life were her family, volunteering for U.S.O, golfing, and traveling to many exotic places around the world. While living in Sun City Center, she was an active member of her church, loved catching the latest movie, and most of all, spending time with her children and six grandchildren.
Following John’s death in 2009, Leah moved to Dallas, TX to enjoy the next 6 years of her life to be near her daughter Mary Jo and her husband Dr. Dee Jennings. She was the glue in our family and we will all miss her very contagious laugh, beautiful smile and expressive eyes.
Leah is preceded in death by her parents, Tom and Leah Carron of Rock Island, IL, her siblings and her beloved husband of 55 years, John Corken. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Jim Cullen of Naples, FL, her son and daughter –in-law, Matthew and Alene Corken of Medina, MN, and her daughter and son-in-law, Mary Jo and Dr. Dee Jennings of Dallas TX. In addition her beloved grandchildren, Lauren Cullen, James and his wife, Courtney Cullen, Sean Cullen, Catie Corken, Emily Corken and Mandy Corken.
Leah will be joining her husband, John, at their final resting place at the Sarasota National Cemetery on Monday, September 19, 2016.
