JoAnn Morehead Heflich was totally healed on April 7, 2019 and is in the arms of her beloved Savior, Jesus Christ. Funeral services will be held at Smyrna United Methodist Church, 18626 Highway 450 North, Diana, Texas, on Thursday, April 11, 2019 at 1:00pm. Burial will follow at Smyrna Cemetery. JoAnn was born on June 14 in Marshall, Texas to Bill and Dorothy Morehead. She received her Master’s Degree in Education from Stephen F. Austin State University. JoAnn was a teacher for 25 years and adored her students and always looked for the best in them. Her love for children led her to work with Buckner Children and Family Services where she was a devoted advocate for children of Angelina County. She resided in Pollok, Texas for many years where she raised three children. Upon moving to Dallas she met and married her loving husband Henry Heflich. They went on many wonderful adventures together on their yacht, Cherish, where she was fondly referred to as his First Mate. JoAnn was a dedicated wife and mother first and foremost. She treasured her family and savored every moment with them. She especially loved her role as DeeDae. She had a sparkling personality that lit up the room, and she made friends everywhere she went. Her friends, family and many students were inspired by her endless capacity to love and encourage with her unfailing faith. JoAnn was the embodiment of God’s love, she lived by faith and the scriptures she loved; Philippians 4:8-9~“Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable-if anything is excellent or praiseworthy-think about such things. Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me or seen in me-put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.”
She is survived by her devoted husband, Henry Heflich, her mother Dorothy Morehead, son and daughter-in-law Randy and Lynn Allen, daughter and son-in-law Julie and David Reynolds, daughter, Angela Leeber, step-daughter, April Wade, step-daughter and husband Tricia and Jonas Roos, her sister Jane Standifird, grandchildren, Lacy Harris, Christie Swan, Corey Allen, Miranda Allen, Mason Allen, Lauren Leeber, Lindsey Leeber, Cameron Roos, Andie Roos, Connor Wade, and 7 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father Bill Morehead, brother Glynn “Bubbo” Morehead, grandson Aaron Allen, granddaughter Annabelle Roos, and nephew Glynn Morehead, Jr.
