Gary was born in Dallas, TX to Hester Celeste Jackson Mack and Lee Mack on 11/10/1943. He went to school at Mesquite High School and then North Texas State University (now University of North Texas) in Denton, TX and later completed additional degrees through Dallas County Community College. He married Diane Marie Butaud Mack on 8/21/1966 in Denton, TX. He worked as a Clerk Supervisor for the United States Postal Service for over 25 years. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War and served two tours in the Army and was awarded a Bronze Star. He was involved in various Rocket and Technology Clubs. He had a passion for reading, especially science fiction and geo-political science material.
Gary is preceded in death by his parents, Lee Mack and Hester Celeste Jackson Mack, his wife, Diane Marie Butaud Mack, and his brother, Jimmy Mack.
Gary is survived by his son, Patrick Thomas Mack and daughter in law, Valerie Natasha Velazquez Mack, and his grand-daughter, Shannon Leigh Mack.
Visitation will be held from 4-6 PM on Saturday, September 14th at Sparkman Funeral Home in Richardson.
Funeral services will be held at 12 noon on Monday, September 16th at Sparkman Funeral Home in Richardson. A private burial will follow at DFW National Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to The Salvation Army.
