It is with great sadness that the family of Xiaoxuan Chen announces his passing away. Xiaoxuan, 81, died on Monday, May 20, 2019, at Harborview Medical Center from complications related to his illness. Xiaoxuan will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 57 years, Meiyun Li, and his children, Geanette Lam (Tonghui) and Tonghan. Xiaoxuan will also be fondly remembered by his three grandchildren, Randy, Ryan and Chenyu, and by his three brothers and sister. Xiaoxuan will also be forever remembered by his many nieces, nephews and extended family, dear friends, and students.
Born in Shanghai, China on July 13, 1937, he was the second son of Chunling and Zhuyun. He grew up in Shanghai. After graduating from Nanyang Model High School in 1954, he attended Beijing University and graduated in 1959 with a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics.
He met his wife, Meiyun Li, in college and they married in 1962. He lectured at Qiqihar College of Light Industry from 1959-1974, then worked at Wuhan University of Technology as a math lecturer/professor from 1974 to his retirement in 1997. After retirement, he immigrated to America.
A funeral service in memory of Xiaoxuan will be held on Monday, June 10, 10:00am, at Greenwood Memorial Park Funeral Home, 350 Monroe Ave NE, Renton, WA 98056.
