Thank you Marilyn for my dear

She was the Saluki love of my life, 
my best friend, and my confidant.  
I thanked Marilyn at every occasion, and spoke to her quite a bit before she passed.  She was a great lady.  
Thank you again Marilyn.  
You are greatly missed.

Marilyn offered many so many firsts....there are no words to say how much I miss you and think of you often. Thank you for believing in me. I know you are with Juuso, the first Saluki you shared with us and unknowingly changed our lives forever.  

When Susie found out I was heading to your place, she would ask me what did she get you to do? It was a bit of a joke between us.  She always had a task that I willing enjoyed helping her with.  For awhile, many referred to her quest house as my house.  If I had been closer I would have been their more often to give you a hand. 

I remember telling you I wanted a smooth Saluki bitch but couldn't find what I was looking for in the US so, I started searching internationally and every time I found something I liked it would be from your lines. I finally just asked you to help me find a female Saluki!  Then, you gave me Qadira through your relationship with Marita.  Not only did I gain the most beautiful sassy lovable Saluki, I also gained good friends.  Thank you for that. 

I simply miss you everyday...and, time doesn't seem to ease that...

I met Marilyn in the early 1970s, at the Saluki ring of a California dog show. I didn't see her often as I lived in the Southern part of the state.  But, there were many memorable times the Santa Barbara weekend, when Salukidom would come together. However when together, we always had a nice chat.  I also had contact through her magazines and lovely photos. I  had a surprise meeting with her this last October at a lure course in Ethel, WA. I had dropped out of the dog scene in the early 1990s and had not seen her in person in about 30 years.  I am so thankful to have reconnected with her at the trial.  I will forever cherish that chat. 



I met Marilyn at a Saluki National, she was was the kindest and nicest person you could think of. She took the first picture of my Tri girl and sent to me, saying how much she loved her, I felt honored. Will miss Ms Marilyn.

It was such a pleasure to know Marilyn. and I am so sad to read of her passing.   She was a thoughtful and caring person, and very knowledgeable about salukis.  We had many conversations when we worked on the code of ethics for the Saluki Club of America. My sincere condolences to her family and friends on this loss.

Marilyn was an icon in the Saluki world, and everyone who shared her passion had tremendous respect for her.   Her contributions through Saluki publications, mentoring people new to the breed, friendships, service to organizations and through her breedings will live on throughout the history in this breed.    She will be missed by many.  

Dear Marilyn,  So many memories we have over the years.  It is hard to say goodby but I know we must my friend.  We met over our passion of Salukis and whippets in 1973 when we bought litter mates that were almost identical brothers.  Through the years we both moved, divorced, had children, changed jobs,  shared dogs and kept our sense of humor and zest for life.   Your photography, love of art and eye for the beauty all around us was ever present.  And you did call yourself the crazy cat lady,  just sayin'.   I was excited when you moved to Napavine as you were now 40 minutes away from me.  Your last move of many and a real challenge.  Rest in Peace my dear friend and I will love you forever.   Friends just grow old together and … darn it,  I am going to be older and you will stay forever young.  

How does one say goodbye to the person with whom you shared half your adult life? Someone there one minute and gone the next. So much of our lives together was on the phone...hashing and rehashing our hopes and dreams. We actually were in business together, even though we never looked at it that way. But we shared a lot of good and some bad. Most of the time we got along well and sometimes we didn't. We would fly across the country to each other's house or meet up in another state for a big dog show. Always sharing and talking about our interests. We were so much a part of each other's lives...the parts you dont share with your husband or your children....our creative inner worlds. So I will miss you as do many others. I just hope you are now in a most wonderful place and all our dogs we shared are wth you.
