Johnnie Faye Jones was born on February 17th, 1947 to Annie Mae Slade and John Myers in Seattle, WA. Johnnie began her early education at TT Minor and then continued on to Washington Middle School. She married James Otis Jones and from this union Toni, Tina and Tracy were born.
She believed in providing for her three daughters and often worked three jobs at a time. Johnnie worked at Lerner's Dress Shop, Unigard Insurance and retired from Associated Grocers. She wouldn't be in retirement long as she was drawn to help children in need and became a foster parent for over twenty-five years.
Johnnie's home became a place for children to thrive and grow. Every child was greeted with an infectious smile, big hug and her signature colored hair. "Nana," as she was affectionately known, provided a safehaven for children that would have otherwise been lost in the system. On March 31, 2000, her efforts were recognized and she was awarded the Atlantic Street Center Family of the Year for her outstanding effort and achievement to strengthen families and support the needs of children. To this day her award is proudly displayed on her wall.
For many years Johnnie was an active member of New Covenant Christian Center where she served in the ministry as an usher, greeter or just someone to rely on for comfort and prayer. Johnnie gave her life to the Lord and passed on her love for Christ to her family and friends.
Johnnie was preceded in death by her father John Myers, dad Clarence Bell, brothers Alonzo and Billy. She is survived by her mother Annie Mae, daughters Toni (Kelvin) Williams Sr. and Tracy LeViege. Daughter Tina, who went home to be with the Lord in 2012, was there to greet and welcome her home. Her son Lamont Williams will forever cherish the memories that have been made. Twelve Grandchildren; Khalilah (Deshawn), Ariana, Kelvin Jr (Liz), Keiosha (TC), Dominic, Daquawya, T’Keyah, Isaiah, Susan, Tamera, Jovan and Are’onna.
