Izola’s passion was people and the relationships and bonds she created were unmatched. Everyone was taken in by her warmth, pure joy for life and dedication to her family. She was loving, inspiring, spirited, stoic, tenacious, driven, quietly fierce and intentional.
Our mother and grandmother taught a work ethic that is unmatched to this day by most. She was up before the sun and down way past sundown 365 days a year for decades. The story telling, long chats and visits, the smiles and gratitude she felt from her hard work, motivated Izola purely from the joy she saw coming from others.
Izola had the best sense of humor and was funny. When Izola would start talking about something or someone, the next thing you would know is that you would be laughing so hard that you’d be crying; a trait most of this family has. The best advice Izola gave to most, was to have patience and endure.
Survived by daughters Barbra (Salomes) Harris, Gwen Hosea-Mimms, sons Mariano Harris and (recently passed) Hugh Harris and step daughter Theresa Harris. Izola is also survived by many grand, great grand and great-great grand children, as well as many nieces and nephews.
A special thank you to Maricris Tugade Family Home, where Izola lived for the past 6 years of her life, where she made many friends. Maricris took grandmother in and loved her. Joey, Mother Cot, Philly and Lovely, just to name a few will all miss her.
Let's continue to share in the stories and fond memories. She'll be laid to rest next to her sister Viola Washington at The Antioch Cemetery in Timpson, Texas.
