Jane Barbara Sandt

Jane Barbara (Hartlieb) Sandt, 91, of Lower Alsace, passed away peacefully in Berkshire Commons on Sunday, September 4, 2016. She was the loving wife of 56 years to the late Russell Austin Sandt. The couple married in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church on October 29, 1954.

Born in Reading on March 27, 1925, Jane was a daughter of the late Harry and Estella (Pfautz) Hartlieb. She was a 1943 graduate of Reading High School.

Jane was employed with Traveler’s Life Insurance Co. for 10 years in the Claims Department before raising her family. She enjoyed cooking and baking for her family. She loved watching her grandson, Bryan. She used to hike and camp with her family and took pleasure in feeding the birds and bird watching.

Surviving are two sons, Craig R. Sandt and his companion, Nancy A. Wagner of Alsace Twp. and Scott A. Sandt of Lower Alsace Twp. and a grandson, Bryan L. Sandt of Alsace Twp.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Russell, Jane is predeceased by infant twin brothers, Harold and Donald Hartlieb and brother, Richard Hartlieb.

Services for Jane will be at 11am on Friday, September 9, 2016 in Auman’s Inc. Funeral Home, 390 W. Neversink Rd., Reading, PA 19606. Family and friends will be received in the funeral home on Friday from 10 to 11am. Jane will be laid to rest with Russell in Forest Hills Memorial Park, Reading.
