Barbara Ann McDonald, 84, of Sinking Spring, PA passed over into one of God's many mansions on Wednesday, January 26, 2022, at her residence surrounded by her loving family. Born December 22, 1937 in Reading, PA she was a daughter to the late John Michael Kalina and Bertha May (Greiss) Kalina.
Barbara worked in the healthcare management field for most of her life until her retirement in 2005. She worked at various locations including but not limited to: Berks visiting Nurse Association and Manor Care assisted living facilities.
Barbara loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, with all her heart, and she loved God’s Word. Though she was a compassionate, loving and empathetic woman, Barbara was nonetheless a powerful prayer warrior, and only heaven knows what a wonderful and eternal impact all her many years of faithful praying have had on her family, her friends, and the world at large. She was a faithful member of Shillington Church of Christ; where she actively volunteered and taught bible study.
Barbara's greatest gift was the love she gave her family. Her family and children brought her much joy, and later her joy was increased by her grandchildren. She was the true definition of selfless, always going above and beyond for anyone in need - always rooting for the underdog.
Barbara was an avid reader her whole life and leaves behind a vast library of books. She loved animals of all kinds but, she had a special love for cats. Marshall and Joey, her beloved cats of many years, passed away recently and will also be waiting to meet her.
Barbara's spirit will be carried on by her 2 daughters Karen Kay Laythe and Amy Jo Hassler and her husband Dr. Stephen Hassler. Barbara also leaves behind James M. Geiger; her 1st husband of 18 years; 3 grandchildren Jessica, Nathaniel, Andrew and her granddog Jerico to cherish her memory.
In addition to her parents, Barbara was greeted in heaven by her 2nd husband Edwin L. McDonald, the couple shared 17 years of marriage before his passing on August 13, 1997; and her 7 siblings Andrew, John, Francis, Doris, LaRue, Vivian and Joan.
