It is always difficult saying goodbye to someone we love and cherish. It is with great sadness that we have said good-bye to a beloved wife, mother and sister. Surrounded by her family, Vivian Morcom (nee Stan) passed away on Saturday, July 23, 2022 in Fort Qu’Appelle, Saskatchewan, just shy of her 87th birthday.
She was predeceased by her parents Steve and Mary Stan; infant brother William; and infant grandson Nicholas.
Vivian is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Lloyd; her children Sherry (Marlon), Jeffrey, and Ryan (Carole); grandchildren Alerica, Tannea, Alexi, Peter, and James; sisters Bev Czemeres and Donna Davies; sisters-in-law Arlene (Dennis) Doehl, Shirley Holman, and Fern (Larry) Reich; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Vivian was born August 5, 1935 in her grandfather Stan’s home and raised in the Dysart, Saskatchewan district. After completing high school, Vivian entered the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon, where she received her teaching certificate in 1955. Her teaching positions took her to Gibbs, Craik, Bethune, Fort Vermillion (AB), and Dysart. She retired in 1992 after over 30 years of teaching. Vivian and Lloyd were married in 1961 and had three children who were also raised in the Dysart district. Vivian enjoyed travelling and had the opportunity to visit Norway, Romania, Mexico, and many parts of Canada and the United States. Vivian had numerous interests and hobbies, which included reading, music, gardening and “eating out”. Vivian was secretary of the Dysart Women’s Institute and Library Board, Ladies Rink Auxiliary, Dysart Historical Society and Museum. This interest continued even after moving to Fort Qu’Appelle where she volunteered at the Fort Qu’Appelle Museum and Tourist Information booth during the summer months. Vivian especially loved children and her grandchildren in particular were always the “apple of her eye”. Vivian was always known for her sense of humor and readiness to smile and an occasional sharp tongue!
The Celebration of Vivian’s Life will be held on Saturday, September 3, 2022 at 11:00 am at St. Andrews United Church, 194 Bay Avenue, Fort Qu’Appelle, Saskatchewan. There will not be a graveside internment at this time. Vivian will be dearly missed by all the people whose lives she touched.
