Rosa Ricci

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Rosa on December 26 at the age of 80. Rosa was born in Chieti Scalo, Abruzzo, Italy. Her early years were spent working on the family farm and at the local school in the community of Santa Filomena, Chieti, Italy.

In 1959 Rosa married Giuseppe Ricci. In 1961 Giuseppe went to Canada to start a new life for them. Rosa joined her husband in Canada with their first two children Anna and Enio in March of 1963. Three more children were born in Canada; Marina, Marino and Paola. Rosa worked hard to make a good life for the family at many places. Her last employer was The Delta Hotel, where she worked as a server in the banquet hall. She loved her job, seeing and talking to all the people at events. Rosa, like many immigrants, had to overcome the barriers of language, culture and of course the weather in Saskatchewan. However with a strong work ethic and close family, she persevered and made a good life in Regina. She is predeceased by daughter Marina in infancy, her parents Adele Mechitti and Eugenio Romano; husband Giuseppe Ricci; brother Augustino Romano and great-grandson Theodore Ricci. Rosa is survived by her children Anna (Tim), Enio (Lee-Ann), Marino (Sherry) and Paola Miller; grandchildren Diana Pettigrosso, Amanda (Allen) MacQuarrie, Ferdinando Pettigrosso, Andrea Pettigrosso, Joseph (Angela) Ricci, Marco (Kristen) Ricci, Arthur and Amira Miller, Daniel and Isabella Ricci; great-grandchildren Amelia and Giuseppe Ricci; sisters Maria Romano and Esterina Romano and many extended family and relatives in Canada, Italy and England. The family would like to thank everyone for their kind words, messages, phone calls and words of encouragement during this very difficult time. We would also like to thank all of the Health Care nurses that came to help mom daily with her insulin and the Staff at the Safeway Pharmacy at the Victoria Square Mall. Prayers will be held on Friday, January 3, 2020 at 7:00 p.m. at Victoria Avenue Funeral Home 2080 Victoria Ave E, The Celebration of Rosa’s life will be held on Saturday, January 4, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Child Church 2636 7th Ave. E., Regina with Father Brian Meredith officiating. Interment at Riverside Memorial Park, where Rosa will be put to rest beside her loving husband and other family members.
