He was pre deceased by his loving wife Rosemary; sons Brian, Ken, infant son Timothy; grandsons Travis and Cody; parents Walter and Helen; brother Alec, sister-in-law Gail; and brothers-in-law Shorty and Jim.
Mitchell will be remembered, loved, and forever missed by son Rick (Dawn); sister Jean; brothers Joe (Rita) and Walter (Julie); sister-in-law Lorraine; grandchildren Troy (Jill), Lindsay, Drew (Celeste), Jenny (Dave), Jessica (Scott), Brian, Kris, Kendra (Matt); great-grandchildren Jenaya, Joel, Cole, Myla, Grace, Keyona, Kayno; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Father, Grandfather, Brother, Uncle and a friend to all. Mitch was born on February 14, 1930 in Bobrka, lwow, Poland (now in Ukraine). As an infant he immigrated to Canada, his family settled on a farm near Kelvington Saskatchewan. Being raised on a farm was the beginning of his strong work ethic that was instilled in him for his entire life. Mitch graduated from the U of S with a degree in engineering, and worked for the Saskatchewan Department of Highways moving up to district engineer for Regina. He took an early retirement after 34 years of service. Mitch enjoyed many years of travelling, photography, golfing, curling and bowling with the love of his life Rosemary. He was always deeply involved with organizing tournaments and draws. Mitch found great pleasure in volunteer work, from Rider games, world junior tournaments, Tim Horton’s curling, and ushering at his parish. He always had time to talk or listen to anyone, he never had an unkind word and always saw the best in people.
He took great interest in his children and grandchildren’s lives as they were growing up, attending any sports or recreational activities that they were involved in. Every year Mitch would send out a Christmas letter to family and friends. He always made sure to keep everyone informed of the family’s happenings for that year. Family was the most important part of his life, he was always trying to get everyone together just for a meal. Sometimes that was like herding cats, but he was persistent! There’s nothing Mitch loved more than to feed anyone and everyone. Kindness and generosity were in his nature. A good man gone home. He will be forever loved and missed by all.
There will be a memorial service at Victoria Avenue Funeral Home, 2080 Victoria Avenue East, Regina, Saskatchewan. on Saturday December 10, 2022 at 11:00am with Linda Lucyk officiating.
