Jack passed peacefully in the hospital, in Regina, Saskatchewan on Monday, September 18, 2021. He was pre-deceased by his parents Eric and Elma (nee Geib) of Strasbourg, SK; his beloved sister-in-law and her husband, Linda and Gary Hoodle; his in-laws Jack and Lois Hooper; and nephew Jaremy Tallentire.
Jack will be sadly missed by his best friend and wife of 62 years Joan (nee Hooper); his two sons Chris (Liette) of Regina and Jeff of Winnipeg; three grandchildren Tyler of Brooks, AB, Chelysse of Regina, and Kaylee of La Ronge; six great-grandchildren Tyler Jr., Alex, Elianna, Ethan, Lukas and Lux, all of whom he adored; his brother Jary (Rochelle); sisters Jill (Dave) Donaldson, Judy (Roy) Jensen, Jennifer Tallentire; brother-in-law Harry (Jeri) Hooper; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Jack loved sports. He enjoyed golfing and fishing with his good friend Gerry, and curling. He watched many types of sports and enthusiastically took part in football and golf pools. He was also an avid reader, typically finishing several books a week. Jack worked for CN Rail for over 35 years, including several years in both Montréal and Winnipeg before returning to Regina in the early nineties.
Above all, Jack loved his family. He was always so proud of his sons and eager to know what was going on in their lives. He cherished family time and enjoyed Christmas gatherings with the eagerness of a young child. Jack looked forward to Saturday afternoon “meetings” with his golf friends. Jack was “dad” and friend to many of Chris and Jeff’s friends. Dad will be remembered for his quick wit, generosity and love for others.
The family would like to thank Dr. Zarkovic and the many other fine doctors he saw over the years as well as the staff of 4B at the Pasqua Hospital for their care.
As per his wishes, no funeral service will be held at this time. The interment will be held at a later date. In Jack’s memory we ask that you take a moment to show an act of kindness toward your fellow man. We love you dad and papa.
