It is with profound shock and heartbreak that we announce the sudden passing of Daniel Kevin Hill on Thursday, March 1, 2018. Dan was born June 2, 1959 and was a member of Neyaashiinigming First Nation on the Bruce Peninsula in Ontario, and raised there, the eldest of a large family and extended family. He was very proud of his Ojibway heritage as well as his late father’s Mohawk heritage. Dan was predeceased by two brothers, Rodney in 1983, Darryl in 2016 and his father, Lorne in 2011. He is survived by his best friend and loving wife, Debbie; children Wilfred, John (Tara), and Jamie; his grandchildren Theo, Brooklynn and Nixon; his dear mother Bernice; brothers David and Lynden; sisters, Keitha and Carrie; nieces Rain and Laura; nephews Aaron, Cale, Bailey, Logan and Marcel. Dan will be dearly remembered by his brother-in-law, Gord (Grace); sister-in-laws Arlene (Derek, Candice, Little Larry and big Larry), Sheila (Vicky, Laura, Nicole, Mathew and Andrew) and Maggie (Natasha and Nancy). Dan also survived by two foster brothers; Lawrence McLeod and Randy Keeshig-McLeod (Rose) and one foster sister; Beth Stadelbauer and all of their families, all of whom he loved and cherished. Dan was an honorable man, always looking out for his children, grandchildren and family members. He was easy going, loving, and always happy, with a crazy sense of humor of which endeared him to many. He treated everybody with respect and held no judgment on anyone. He was a great teacher to all of us and was truly a jack of all trades, including finances, of which we all learned much from. As son John states, “I still had so much to learn from him”. Dan was a journeyman ironworker and member of the Ironworkers Union in Hamilton #736. He began his career as a 3rd Class Power Engineer and worked in many areas since 1986, through this he gained many friends. His most recent employment was at the Saskatchewan Legislature as well as working on a casual basis for the Pasqua Hospital. He respected all his co-workers of whom he learned much from. Dan was always willing to help friends, family and our neighbors, and loved to do these things for people with no expectations.
