Family was the most important thing to Faye and in her words, “The birth of her two children was her proudest moment”. Grant and Faye celebrated their 50th anniversary, prior to his passing, which is quite an accomplishment these days. They worked very hard to provide their children with many opportunities that they did not have. She took great pride in keeping an immaculate house and yard, along with always dressing eloquently, which people often complimented her on. Countless hours were spent at rinks and ball diamonds with her kids, which continued on with the grandchildren. Faye was always the biggest cheerleader, making banners, buttons and even sewing skating outfits. Her other passions were cooking (especially baking), sewing, bridge, singing, tea parties and gardening to name a few. From these passions, many friendships were made over the years with the bridge girls, singing groups, neighbors and everyone she met; she left a positive and lasting impression.
She was born in Pangman and moved onto Weyburn where she met and married Grant. In 1958 she started as a stenographer at the Mental Hospital and after moving to Regina continued her work as an Exec Assistant for the Minister at the Parliament building. After staying home to raise her children, she went on to have numerous jobs such as demonstrating for Panasonic microwaves, owning a flower shop with Grant, the Leader Post and Mr. Canada Touring. In retirement she enjoyed traveling, her countless friendships and driving around grandkids.
Faye was predeceased by her parents Peter and Barbara Fellner and her husband R. Grant Wood. She will be forever remembered and missed by her son, R. Derek (Laurie) Wood and daughter Denise Wood; grandchildren Kaden, Carter and Cohen; predeceased by her brother Joe (Thelma) Fellner; brother Richard Bryon (Sarah) Fellner and their families; sister-in-law Shirley Fellner and brother-in-law Don (Carole) Wood and their families.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 31st at 1:30 pm from Lee’s Funeral Home in Regina with a tea party to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations in Faye’s memory may be directed to the Palliative Care unit at the Pasqua Hospital.
