October 28, 1972 - April 24, 2017
It is with heavy hearts, that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved Son Brent. Brent is predeceased by his Father Patrick Johnson, Grandparents Margaret and Clifford Johnson. Brent will forever be dearly missed by his Mom, Charlotte Legien (Johnson, nee Jacobs), Step-Father Dieter, Sister Teresa and Nephew Zane(Sterling) Johnson, his Grandmother Mary Heagy, in addition to numerous Aunts, Uncles and Cousins of the Jacobs-Johnson families. Brent will be greatly missed by countless close friends and fellow musicians in Vancouver, Regina and around the world. Brent was born in Regina, first attending McNab Elementary School, before entering Martin Collegiate. Brent completed high school at Sheldon Williams Collegiate, where he was friends with everyone, not just the large group of people he regularly hung around with. After high school, Brent worked for the City of Regina for several years. Brent eventually decided to move to Vancouver, where he worked various jobs and eventually began working as a concrete leveller. Brent quickly became part of the music scene in Vancouver, playing with several different bands. Music was always his one great love; enthralling to him, from the very time he was to able walk. He had found his true passion. Brent had the opportunity of touring Canada, the USA, Europe and Australia, playing in a band. He was extremely grateful for the experiences. Brent was always trying to do more, learn more, always striving to be a better person. Brent played bass and when he was still in school, took guitar and drum lessons as well. The last time he was home, at Christmas time 2016, he talked about taking guitar lessons. He didn’t think he was that good. He was very good at what he did!! Knowing Brent, meant he became your brother not just a friend; that he would have your back no matter what, sometimes to his own detriment. Perhaps it was his chuckle or laugh you will miss, maybe its his gentle honest spirit or his wit, perhaps his amazing friendship. He had an eclectic taste in music, books, movies and anything that was a bit unusual or quirky. He was also interested in spiritual teachings and philosophies and was a good cook. His interest in natural health solutions led him to complete a couple of courses in that field. In Brents honour and organized by several of his musician friends, a kick ass wake held in Vancouver on April 29th. Several of his close friends and people he had grown up with in Regina, made the trip to Vancouver. There, the large group of west coast and hometown friends, gathered to pay tribute to the friend he was to all of us. A friend of his has created and shared a YouTube video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oQvT18KJ3pY “In Honour of Brent Johnson” a wonderful tribute to him. A celebration of Brents Life will be held Friday June 16th at 3:00PM, at the Victoria Avenue Funeral Home, 2080 Victoria Avenue East, Regina Sk. Immediately following, “FUBARFEST” will take place at The Exchange, 2431 8TH Avenue, Regina SK. Doors will open at 8:00PM. There his friends will honour him as they knew him, playing where he played many times over the years. Donations to Covenant House, Vancouver BC may be made in his memory or to a charity of your choice.
Brent we will always love you and miss you
That is all….
