Mom attended FNUC for Social work and was near completion. Mom also worked many years in her prime in Fort Qu’Appelle with the Native Women’s group and began a daycare cooperative. Mom also danced powwow in the women’s Traditional style of dance. Later in life she transitioned as a knowledge keeper who helped with a Dakota language app through FHQ and was involved in several community cultural groups and Elders council. Mom enjoyed sewing and spent many hours quilting beautiful star quilts while listening to prayer songs on her tape player. Bernice’s memory and teachings will live on through all those who she loved and graced within her lifetime. Traditional wake will be held on Friday, February 23 at 4:00 pm at Standing Buffalo School Gymnasium with funeral services to follow Saturday, February 24 at 10:00 am. Family is requesting no small children be attendance for the wake. The family would also like to extend gratitude to Echo Lodge Special Care Home in Fort Qu’Appelle for their compassionate care during Bernice’s stay.
