It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude that we celebrate the life of Willie G. Simpson III, affectionately known as “Boo,” who was born on May 12, 1969, in Detroit, Michigan. He was lovingly embraced by his parents, Willie G. Simpson Jr. and Shirley Simpson, and he departed this world on August 11, 2024, at the age of 55.
Boo was the devoted husband of Tonya Ruper-Simpson for 20 remarkable years. Their love was a beacon of light and joy in his life. He was a proud and loving father to Raymon, Diamonique, LaToya (Chuck), Sade (Terrance), Aisha (Allison), Ahlai, Trevon, Dajuan, Asia, Tariq, and Patricia. His role as a grandfather was cherished deeply; he took immense pride in his grandchildren, including Kashmier, Terrance III (TJ), E'mari, CJ, Brooklyn, Heaven, E-Lee, Vaya, Alayah, Abi and Leilani. Each grandchild brought a special light into his life, and his time spent with them was filled with joy and laughter.
Boo was also a beloved brother to David (Cathy), Mike (Delang), Yolanda, and Shawn (Ronda). His siblings, along with a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family, will remember him for his boundless warmth and infectious spirit.
Raised in Detroit, Boo carried his love for his hometown with pride. His passion for the Detroit Lions was matched only by his love for fishing and spending cherished moments with his grandkids. He was a dedicated family man whose greatest joy came from being a father and husband. His laughter, kindness, and ability to bring people together made him the life of the party, whether at family gatherings or his beloved Club Diamond Shaft.
Boo was a fun-loving, generous soul who made friends wherever he went. He was known for his loving nature and the genuine way he connected with others. His legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew him, as a man who gave freely of his love and joy.
He will be deeply missed but fondly remembered for the incredible impact he had on his family and friends. His spirit will forever be a source of inspiration, and his memory will be cherished in the many lives he touched.
