Evelyn June Lozon was born in Detroit, Michigan on June 4, 1923 to Otto and Bertha Schippa. She was one of five children. Evelyn passed away peacefully in her Sterling Heights, Michigan home on December 2, 2020 at the age of 97 under the gentle care of her family and Hospice of Michigan.
Evelyn was the loving grandmother of Joann (Pete) Huber and Paul (Kim) Stephan. Dear great-grandmother of Zachary Huber and Rachel Huber. Proud great-great-grandmother of Abbrielle Pilgrim.
Evelyn will be missed by many nieces and nephews, especially Bruce Jackson, who called her every single day until the day she passed. She also shared a special relationship with Pat Cochrane who was like a second daughter to her.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Clarence Lozon (d.2009). Cherished daughter, Marilyn June Stephan (d. 1995). All of her 4 siblings: Esther (Harold) Kremko, Mildred (John) Silk, Ruth Jackson, and Donald (Bernice) Schippa. Also her best friend Gene (Harv) Yaeger.
Evelyn liked to crochet and enjoyed games of all kinds. In the past, she played video games and was known to trade tips and strategies with the neighborhood kids. She also enjoyed playing cards for most of her life and was a pretty sharp poker player. Most recently, she was known to take trips to the casino and would sneak off on her own occasionally even into her late eighties. She is described as the best grandma anyone could ever ask for and at the same time having the drive of 20 men. It was possibly due to the bologna sandwiches with mustard and onions she ate every day for years. Evelyn had a strong will and a giant heart. Her family and friends will miss her deeply.
Evelyn will be laid to rest by her husband in Glen Eden Lutheran Cemetery.
Due to Evelyn's love of all animals, memorial contributions may be made to any charity benefiting the welfare of animals.
Memorial contributions may also be made to Hospice of Michigan for the gentle care they showed Evelyn in her final days.
