November 17, 1932 – June 24, 2024
Patricia Marie Tucker, affectionately known as Pat, was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Born in Portland, Oregon, she spent her early years at Mount Saint Helens and Spirit Lake, Washington, where her father Peter served as a US Forest Service supervisor, and her mother, Dixie, was a talented seamstress.
On October 23, 1954, Pat married her high school sweetheart, Richard L. Tucker (Tuck), and they began their married life in San Francisco where she also completed her degree and teaching credential at San Francisco State University. Together Pat and Tuck raised two children, Richard Jr., and Suzanne.
Pat was deeply involved in the Lutheran Church, contributing her musical talents by playing the organ and singing in the choir. In the late 1970’s, Pat and Tuck relocated from the Bay Area to Redding, where Pat taught at Anderson Elementary School for many years. Even after retiring, she remained active in the Retired Teachers Association and dedicated her time to community service, including sponsoring homeless families through Pilgrim Congregational Church United Church of Christ.
Pat was so many things, but among them she was an international cruise traveler, hat enthusiast, fan of the performing arts, and-along with her husband Tuck-an avid golfer. But to her family, she was Grammy, and she played an instrumental role in the upbringing and education of her three grandchildren.
Pat’s legacy of love and service will be forever cherished by her adoring children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
During a private committal service, Pat’s ashes will be placed to rest with Tuck’s ashes at the Northern California Veterans Cemetery, 11800 Gas Point Road, Igo, California.
Condolences may be expressed via USPS to: Tucker-Birch Family, PO Box 493312, Redding, CA 96049-3312.
