Arrangements were under the direction of McDonald's Chapel, Redding, CA. A beautiful Celebration of Life was held on March 12, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. The Patriot Riders, Redding Chapter, held up flags for all 135 guests to walk under. Rev. Andrea (Golden) Asebedo officated the service and several persons spoke.
The Riders then escorted the funeral procession out to the Igo Veteran's Cemetary where the navy officiated a military honors service: 21 gun salute and flag presentation. The Ohm home was open for food & fellowship. At the end of the day, a double rainbow appeared, once again reminding us of a promise of reunited love.
The following was from our daughter Tara at his service:
"I never called Brad "dad." I told him I never would. I told him in my mind "dad" was someone else and it would be an insult for me to call him that, though I was always proud to call myself his daughter. He was My Brad.
My son Sam was born on Brad's 59th birthday.... This was not an accident. I was not uncomfortable or in pain. I thought about how great it would be if Sam grew up to be just like him.
Sadly Sam will never really know his "Grandpod". What a wonderful loving man he was, how he loved life. How he loved me even though I didn't always make it easy for him to do, how he loved my sister, even though he thought she stole his rope.
Most importantly how he loved my Mom truly and completely, for that I want to ...say thank you. Thank you Brad for being in our lives, and being one of the greatest men I ever knew. I love you."
