Better known as Marge Spillman was born June 18, 1930 in Nampa, ID. & passed

Thomas Newland & Hazel Fern Harrison were crop and livestock farmers in Kuna,

Marge was the tomboy of the girls who helped her dad build hay stacks, halter
the team of horses, build a barn, raise chickens and turkeys, milk the goat and
successfully hunt deer. She along with her sisters learned how to make buttermilk
& make horseradish that made your eyes weld up with tears. The sisters were
known to Top Corn, super-fast! The Newland family had a huge garden. Marge
played trombone and was active in Methodist Youth Fellowship during her young
life. Marge thoroughly loved animals and especially her trusty horse, Majesty. She
worked at the Chicken Shack Diner in north Red Bluff and the Olive Plant in
Corning to help provide additional income to the Spillman family. The Spillman’s
Jersey dairy farm was a perfect setting to raise a family. The kids were supported
in 4-H & FFA.
Marge served on the Los Molinos High School Board in 1970’s. She received her
Registered Nurse education at Shasta College just prior to the cut-off age limit.
She was employed at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Red Bluff working in the med-surge
and the floor depts. until her mid-70’s. In Manton, she & her quilting friends
served by providing numerous quilts to the needy when wildfires struck the
region. She volunteered in the Christmas tree lighting, plum pudding festival and
Apple Festival Fundraising. Marge learned how to make a flaky pie crust for all
pies, preserve okra, peaches, cherries pears and apricots from her mother.
She was a devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister, niece, cousin, aunt,
grandmother, great grandmother, and great great grandmother who will be
greatly missed for her genuine love, generosity and unselfishness. She knows
Jesus Christ welcomes her in heaven with open arms.
