Luereen Jane Phelps

Luereen Jane Phelps, 89, of Reading, PA passed away on Sunday, January 8, 2023, at Reading Hospital - Tower Health. Born in Reading, PA on March 18, 1933, she was a daughter to the late Callie Mae (Medley) Phelps and George Phelps.

Luereen worked as a CNA at Reading hospital and at Legg inc. as a candy maker. She was of the Baptist faith and watched church sermons on TV every week.

Luereen enjoyed search word books and shopping, especially at Walmart. She was a great cook, a social butterfly, always had a smile on her face and everyone enjoyed her loving, cheerful spirit. Luereen will be missed by all blessed enough to have known her.

Luereen's spirit will be carried on by her 9 adult children Karen J. Phelps, Michelle M. Phelps, Iris J. Allen, Brenda Ann Smith, Annette E. Phelps, Cynthia L. Phelps-Glaze, April May Phelps, George C. Phelps and Michael M. Phelps. She also leaves behind her sister Adell D. Archer; her 2 brothers Robert and Roland Phelps; 11 grandchildren, several great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews to cherish her memory.

In addition to her parents, Luereen was preceded in death by her son Norman DeBooth III, her daughter Jacqueline D. Phelps, her brother Edward Phelps and her sister Mendella Fains.

Luereen will be laid to rest in Forest Hills Memorial Park, 390 West Neversink Road, Reading, PA 19606-9571. Services will be private and at the discretion of her family.
