Susan Schultz once wrote, there are many people that we meet in our lives, but only a very few will make a lasting impression on our minds and our hearts. These words ring loud as true as Lonnie Paul Foote was that RARE GEM.
Mr. Lonnie Paul Foote was born on November 11, 1945 in Colbert, Georgia to the loving parents of Fannie Sue and Mason Foote. Lonnie Paul was the fifth child of seven children: Sarah “Lucille” Gaines, Bernice Barnes, Hazel Wimbush (all precedent him in death), Rebecca “Beck” Rouse, Inez “Pret” Hitchcock, and Hiram “Bubba” Foote. Fannie and Mason house lived by a familiar scripture, Joshua 24:55 , “For me and my house, we will serve the Lord and that is what they did. Lonnie, accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior and served the Lord with gladness. Lonnie lived a full and wonderful life.
He was a true and faithful member of Zion Baptist Church of Reading for 25+ years and the former Lead Stewart, he enjoyed seeing the world, traveling to – Jerusalem, Paris, Greece, Caribbean Islands, and many more destinations. Lonnie as a member of Berks lodge #47- and was elected to the highest office of Exalter Ruler, and a member of the Bid Whist Club where he served as treasurer. He
served 38 years at Agere Systems (formerly known as Lucent Technologies) as a Layout Operator retiring in 2007. Lonnie was an avid Philadelphia Eagles fan.
Lonnie Paul will be greatly missed! His love will be carried on by his beloved wife Patricia (Woolley) Foote of 20 years as well as his siblings: Rebecca Rouse, Inez Hitchcock and Hiram Foote. Lonnie’s legacy will live on in his children: Daphne Jones, Trudie Foote-Strickland, Fannieleah (Cornelius) Foote-Brown, and Tiaheem Foote; His son through divine connection Gregory Day and Stepchildren, Keith Allison and Tonya Allison. Lonnie was well blessed with 17 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren to continue being one of a kind. James (Dick) and Ellis, his cousins but also his best friends will cherish those times and memories. Lonnie was everyone’s special person so he leaves a host of nieces, nephews, neighbors, church family, lodge brothers and friends.
The best things in life are the people you love, the places you have been and the memories you’ve made along the way.
A Viewing for Lonnie will be held Wednesday, September 7, 2022 from 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM in Theo C Auman, 247 Penn St, Reading, PA. 19601 an also Thursday, September 8, 2022 from 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM at Zion Baptist Church, 224 Washington St, Reading, PA. 19601. A Home Going Service will be Thursday, September 8, 2022 at 11:00 AM in Zion Baptist Church, 224 Washington St, Reading, PA 19601. Burial to follow in Berks County Memorial Gardens.
