Evelyn Shirley (Parr) Schaeffer,100, of Leesport, PA entered eternal rest on Thursday, April 18, 2024, at Berks Heim. Born in Reading, PA on October 01, 1923, she was a daughter to the late Jerome Parr and Mabel (Kromer) Parr.
Though she worked as the office treasurer at Pomeroy's Department Store and later at Berkshire Knitting Mills/Esterly Woolen Mills, her true calling was being a homemaker. Evelyn dedicated herself to creating a nurturing and loving environment for her family.
One of Evelyn's greatest joys in life was shopping, particularly for clothing; she had a knack for finding the perfect outfit for any occasion. Her love for music was evident to all who knew her, as she could often be found singing her favorite songs. Even during her time at Berks Heim, Evelyn continued to serenade everyone, keeping the patients and nurses entertained with her beautiful voice and great sense of humor. However, above all else, Evelyn treasured spending time with her grandchildren. They were the light of her life, and showered them with unconditional love.
She will be missed by all blessed enough to have known her. Rest in eternal peace, dear Evelyn, knowing that you are forever loved and cherished.
In addition to her parents, Evelyn was greeted in heaven by her husband Leon Schaeffer; her brother Harold Parr and her sister Helen "Honey" Parr.
Evelyn's spirit will be carried on by her daughter Linda M. Levans and her husband Harry, of West Lawn. She also leaves behind 5 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren to cherish her memory.
