Allen James "AJ" Folk, 74, of Newmanstown, PA entered eternal rest on Friday, June 2, 2023, at Reading Hospital - Tower Health. "AJ", as he was affectionately known by many, was born in Reading, PA on July 08, 1948, to the late James Allen Folk and Elva May (Glass) Folk.
Allen attended Reading High School and enlisted in The United States Marine Corps at the age of 17. Despite being sprayed with Agent Orange, which caused him many health issues throughout his life, he was very proud to have served his country during the Vietnam War. While serving, Allen earned
numerous medals and badges including but not limited to: the National Defense Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with 1 bronze star, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Presidential Unit Citation with 1 bronze star and Combat Action Ribbon. He was honorably discharged in August of 1971.
Upon returning to civilian life, Allen began a career as a tile setter; working with Malsnee Tile. He later worked at Dana Corporation, until his retirement.
In his spare time, Allen loved to cook, grill, hunt, fish and was an avid Nascar fan.
Allen was very organized and a perfectionist in all aspects of his life. Whether he was at work or at home he always took pride in everything he did and it showed. Allen was a true advocate and supporter of our country's disabled veterans. He helped many veterans' and their spouses by walking them through agency bureaucracy, and serving as a constant wealth of knowledge and strength to those whom needed it the most.
Allen's spirit will be carried on by his beloved wife, Loyce H. (Jeznach) Folk; the couple would have celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary on June 7th. He also leaves behind his daughter Lisa Marie Folk; and 4 grandchildren Andrew James Folk, Damian Scott Folk, Sierra Nicole Folk and Jessica Miranda Searle to cherish his memory.
In addition to his parents, Allen was preceded in death by his son James E. Folk; his 1/2 sister Ethel Trupp and his 1/2 brother Charles Stabolepszy.
