He was born April 10, 1952 to parents Gilbert and Dolores (Horning) Eichler. Bill was a lifelong member of St. Joseph Parish. He attended St. Joseph School through the 8th grade and graduated from Waterloo High School in 1970. Several years later, Bill graduated from the University of Akron with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. He retired from Goodyear where he worked as a pipefitter and maintenance supervisor.
Bill was passionate about his family, the outdoors, and his community. He participated on various committees at St. Joseph Parish. Bill loved coaching track at St. Joseph School and helping with Waterloo Athletics. He recently was enshrined in the Waterloo Athletic Hall of Fame and received the St. Joseph Distinguished Alumni Award for his contributions. He was an avid hunter and loved collecting John Deere tractors.
Bill is survived by his beloved wife Patty (Horning) Eichler, who he married December 20, 1974. Also surviving are his children: Stephanie (John) Estephan, Andrea (Trent) Maxwell, Ben (Tricia), and Jane; grandchildren: Zachary, Aliya, Madison, Cole, Haley, Marshall, Alex, Wyatt, and Peyton; mother, Dolly; father and mother-in-law Jim and Marcy Horning; siblings: Jim (RoseMarie), Ed (Helen), Jerry (Debbie), Denny (Marilyn), Rosemarie (Steve) Czapski, and Ron (Cara); his wife’s siblings: Vicki (Bob) Newnham, Suzanne Livengood, Ken, David (Karen), James (Sherry), and Julie (Jim) Vogt, along with many loving nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Bill was preceded in death by his father Gilbert, his sister-in-law Beverly Eichler, his nephew James V. Horning, and his niece Sarah Horning.
Friends will be received Sunday, October 28, 2018, from 3:00 – 6:00 PM at St. Joseph Church, 2643 Waterloo Rd., Mogadore, OH 44260, and Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Reverend Thomas S. Acker, S.J., on Monday at 10:30 AM. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
