It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Randy Anthony Borkoski, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, who departed this life at the age of 68, on December 17, 2024.
Born on September 8, 1956, a lifelong resident of Adena, Ohio, Randy was a man of dedication, compassion, and adventure, leaving a legacy that will forever live in the hearts of those who knew him.
Randy grew up with a love for learning and service, which first led him to owning Borkoski Appliance Center in Adena and pursue a middle age career change to the funeral industry. After graduating from mortuary school in Pittsburgh, he dedicated his professional life to providing care and comfort to families during their most challenging times at several local funeral homes until purchasing his own Borkoski Funeral Home in Cadiz, OH, and later, Adena. His empathy, professionalism and skill touched countless lives and made a lasting impact on his community.
Randy married the love of his life, Mary Capers, at a young age, and together they built a beautiful life. Their 48 years together were a testament to their devotion to each other. Mary stood by his side through every triumph and challenge. He is also survived by his son Aaron, and daughter-in-law, Shawna; his daughter, Amanda, and son-in-law, Anthony Sable; and son Adam; and his cherished grandchildren, Noah, Miriam, and Isaac. His legacy of love, kindness, and dedication lives on in each of them. Randy is also survived by his sisters: Becky Wilhelm and Amy (John) Sebring, as well as generations of loving nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and his brothers and sisters-in-law.
Randy was preceded in death by his parents Eugene Walter and Charlotte Elizabeth “Betty” Borkoski, and his brother-in-law Rick Wilhelm.
Beyond his vocation, Randy had a passion for the skies. As a private commercial airplane pilot, he found freedom and joy among the clouds, where he felt most alive. His love for flying was matched only by his devotion to his family, who were his greatest pride and joy.
He is a member of St. Casimir Parish, Adena Lions Club, former president of Adena Fire Dept/EMS, former president of Ohio Funeral Directors Association District 12, Adena Village Council and various other community roles.
Randy will be remembered for his unwavering integrity, adventurous spirit, quiet strength, and boundless generosity. While we mourn his loss, we celebrate the remarkable life he lived and the mark he left on all who knew him.
Friends and family will be received on Thursday, December 26, 2024, from 2:00 – 6:00 PM at the Borkoski Funeral Home, 555 East Market Street, Cadiz, Ohio, and also on Friday, December 27, 2024, from 9:30 – 10:30 AM at the Borkoski Funeral Home, 60 South Bridge Street, Adena. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Reverend William Cross and Msgr. Bakhos Chidiac on Friday at 11:00 AM at St. Casimir Catholic Church, 221 Hanna Ave, Adena. Interment will follow at Olive Branch Cemetery in Harrisville.
