She was born August 28, 1939, in Akron, Ohio, to parents William “Bill” and Kathleen “Kay” (McBride) Morris. Kathy graduated from Kenmore High School in 1957. From an early age, she had a love for dance. Kathy was a majorette in high school and went on to teach tap and ballet dancing. She later enjoyed clogging and square dancing. Kathy was a cofounder and director of the Sharp and Sharpettes.
Kathy lived her life in northeast Ohio, mostly in Akron, Suffield, Tallmadge, Ravenna, and Randolph. She was always good with numbers and used her talents to start her own tax preparation company, “Tax Time” on Merriman Road in the Valley. Kathy was a talented seamstress. She and her mother made all of the costumes for the Sharp and Sharpettes. Kathy enjoyed bowling and was a member of the WIBC for over 20 years. Throughout her life, she enjoyed traveling, especially in her motor home.
Kathy was preceded in death by her first husband Tom F. Collins and her second husband Gary R. Connel, as well as her parents, and her dear friend Wil Marshall.
Kathy is survived by her many loving family and friends including her sister-in-law Dolores (Bill) Clifford, her caring friend Sally VanSkiver.
Friends and family will be received Friday, October 13, 2017, from 4:00 – 6:00 PM at the Wood-Kortright-Borkoski Funeral Home, 703 E. Main St., Ravenna, with funeral services officiated by Pastor David Ballert at 6:00 PM. Entombment will take place on Saturday at 10:00 AM at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Akron.
