Romans 8:18 “For I consider the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us.”
Kathy was the beloved wife of the late Gary Chell and the loving mother of the late Julie (Chell) Ninni, and surviving children John Alan (Anna) Chell and Elizabeth (Jerry Bell) Chell. She was the loving grandmother of Amanda Wilson, John Anthony Chell, Dominic Chell, and Sydney Chell, as well as loving great-grandmother of Devin Wilson, Carter Kimbrought and Kainan Kimbrought, and mother-in-law to David Ninni. She was a special aunt to Jill Syslo and many other nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Kathy was born on January 11, 1941, in Uhrichsville, Ohio, to parents Charles and Mabel (Hayward) Haskins. On April, 14, 1962, Kathy married her beloved Gary Chell. For many years, she took care of her family at home and then went to work at the Handy Mini Storage from 1985 until 2000. She worked side by side with her father-in-law John Chell at the family business until it was sold.
She was a member of Immaculate Conception Parish, loved playing Sudoku, and playing cards every Wednesday with her special ladies: Shirley Wilson, Sylvia Poulliot, Bea Stidd, and JoAnne Gruver. Kathy also never missed her daily episode of Jeopardy. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family.
Kathy loved to play tennis and formed the Ravenna Tennis League in the 1970’s. In her younger years she also enjoyed traveling, taking many vacations with family and good friends. She will be remembered for her generous spirit and for always being the family member who would always listen. She would give the best advice and was kind to everyone. Kathy gave so much love to everyone and helped raise many children other than her own her considered her their “mom” or “grandma.” She had a heart of pure gold and was the kindest, most genuine person ever.
She was preceded in death by her parents Charles and Mabel, her husband Gary, her daughter Julie, her brother Richard Haskins, and her very dear friend Judy Kainrad.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Reverend Chad Johnson at 11:00 AM on Kathy’s birthday, January 11, 2021, at Immaculate Conception Church, 409 W. Main St., Ravenna. The family requests that all guests attending wear a mask. Private entombment will take place at St. Mary Cemetery.
