She was born July 15, 1975, in Akron, Ohio, to parents George M. and Judy A. (Horning) Graening. Jody graduated from the University of Akron with a Bachelor of Arts in Education in 1998 and a Masters of Arts in Education degree in 2001. She went on to teach elementary school for the Ravenna School District for 20 years, currently teaching second grade at Carlin Elementary.
Teaching was always important in Jody’s life. Teaching was not just her job it was her passion. Over the years she has poured knowledge and love into her students that have passed through her classroom. Her students will be her legacy.
On July 2, 2005, she married John “Chip” Oesch, and together raising two children, Ethan and Mallory Oesch. She loved cheering on her kids at their sporting events. Jody is also survived by her parents George and Judy Graening, her brother Jeremy (Kelly) Graening and their children Hailey and Austin, as well as her brothers and sisters-in-law: Jane (Dwayne) Holbrook, Jim (Shalmers) Oesch, Jill Oesch, and Julie (Chris) Hale, along with many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins that she loved dearly.
Jody was preceded in death by her grandparents Harold and Ann Horning, and George and Edith Graening.
Friends and family will be received Saturday, January 18, 2020, from 10:00 AM – 12:30 PM with a funeral service officiated by Pastor Whetsel at 12:30 PM at the Ravenna High School, 6589 N Chestnut St., Ravenna. Private interment will take place at St. Joseph Cemetery in Randolph.
