Janet Lynn (Ress) Slaughter

Janet was born September 27, 1977 at Brentwood Hospital in Warrensville Heights, Ohio. Janet was a special gift to her mother, Ruby, at a time when she needed her most in life. Janet arrived early, as she was expected to be born on October 31st. No wonder Halloween was her favorite time of year. She loved her dragons, dinosaurs and Care Bears.

Janet was extremely sensitive as a child and noises bothered her. She avoided confrontations, but when pushed she would rise to the occasion. Swimming came second nature to her, and she was a member of her school's swim team.

Janet was a hard worker, no matter what the job, and always gave it her all. She started working at age 15 and had various jobs throughout her life including fast food, healthcare, retail, factory and few odd jobs in between. Motherhood became her primary occupation and she focused to care for her family. She had a loving heart and was willing to help anyone who asked.

Janet loved life and enjoyed music, nature, and cooking. She loved to cook for her family and experiment with new recipes and some creations of her own. Ketchup was her favorite ingredient, which she inherited from her dad. She enjoyed cake making and candy decorating for birthdays and special occasions.

Janet gave birth to five beautiful children who she adored and loved with all her heart: Patrick Custer, Kimberly Custer, Angel Slaughter, Breanna (Star) Slaughter, and Terry Slaughter. She is also survived by her granddaughters Hannah and Ava May, a grandson Myron, her husband Adam Slaughter, her mother Ruby Davis, her sisters Cheryl Kulesh and Elizabeth Davis, her brother William Davis, along with three nephews, her niece, and many cousins.

Preceding her in death is her dad Terry Ress, her brother Patrick, her grandparents, two uncles, two aunts and her mother-in-law Lilla Slaughter.

Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 5, 2024, at 11:00 AM at the Wood-Kortright-Borkoski Funeral Home, 703 E. Main St., Ravenna. Friends and family will be received following the service until 2:00 PM.
