Gary was born August 10th, 1953 in Fort Sumter, South Carolina and resided in Atwater Township.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gene and Nancy Allen and in-laws Norris and Icie McClure.
Gary is survived by his wife of 42 years Patricia Allen (McClure), children Joshua (Lorrie), Leah Woods (Lloyd), Lucas, Aaron, Sarah Stanley (Aaron), Seth (Ella) and grandchildren Nathaniel, Marianne, Wilder, Coralee, Adler, Emmett. Dawsey, Lawrence, Acre.
Gary was a graduate of Kent State High School and a member of Akron Carpenter’s Union 639. Retired from Ruhlin Construction Company, he enjoyed spending his later years with his grandchildren. A member of The Chapel in Akron for many years, where he served as the Director of Christian Service Brigade. Gary dedicated much of his time towards the improvement of Stony Glen Camp. He also volunteered his time to Habitat for Humanity of Stark County, using his God given skills towards carpentry.
Gary was never far from a McDonald’s coffee cup, enjoying his daily routine of taking the dogs through the drive thru and then spending his time outside at West Branch Reservoir. For those who knew him he was a committed and faithful friend who enjoyed long chats on the phone. He will be greatly missed by all those who loved him.
Friends will be received to celebrate his life at the Wood-Kortright-Borkoski Funeral Home, 703 E. Main St., Ravenna, on Thursday, November 4, 2021 from 3pm until the memorial service beginning at 5pm.
