She was born October 23, 1946, in East Cleveland, Ohio, to parents Edward Caldwell and Catherine Helena (Kubik) Rudd. Evelyn worked at the Reed Memorial Library for many years, specializing as the Homebound Library Coordinator. She was also a longtime member of New Testament Baptist Church.
Evelyn was a voracious reader who also loved history. She enjoyed watching Jeopardy daily, as well as checking in on her “friends” while watching soap operas, the Weather Channel, news, or True Crime Stories. Evelyn was an avid fan of the Cleveland Indians. She often volunteered to help senior citizens and was elected into the Portage County Senior Citizens Hall of Fame in 2018.
Surviving family members include her husband Jeff Peck, who she married November 23, 1985, her daughters: Darlene (Joe) Cameron and Jennifer (David) Zigler, her grandson Shaunn (Sarah) Shomo, her brother Ed (Maureen) Rudd, along with her two nieces and her nephew.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents and her nieces Marci Piltz and Cathi Kelly.
Friends and family will be received Thursday, March 10, 2022, from 6:00 – 8:00 PM and Friday, March 11, 2022, from 10:00 – 11:00 AM at the New Testament Baptist Church, 3583 State Route 59, Ravenna, where funeral services will be officiated by Pastor Bob Burgess on Friday at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery.
