He was born in Akron, Ohio to the late David L. Snyder and Lillian Snyder. David is survived by his wife of 67 years, Jeanette Ilene Snyder. He received a bachelor’s degree from Kent State University, and graduated from the National College of Chiropractic in Chicago, Illinois. Dr. Snyder practiced in Ravenna Ohio for more than 50 years.
David was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was instrumental in helping to build the local chapel in Rootstown, Ohio. He served as a bishop, a member of the Akron Stake Presidency and as an area representative over health and welfare.
David was the founder of C.H.A.R.M., a non-profit organization that provides health and education to the under-privileged in the Dominican Republic. In recognition of these humanitarian efforts, Dr. Snyder was recognized as the American Red Cross Person of the Year.
David was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife, Jeanette Ilene Snyder; his sister, Carole Sprague, his children: David (Dana), Michael (Ellen), Stephen (Marsanne), Jay (Patti), Joshua (Jennifer) and 21 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews.
All are invited to join the Snyder family for a viewing on Thursday, July 11, 2024 at the Wood-Kortright Funeral Home in Ravenna, Ohio, from 5-7pm and the funeral service on Friday, July 12, 2024 at 10am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, located at 2776 Hartville Road, Rootstown, Ohio. Interment at Hillside Cemetery in Randolph will follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family invites any who are interested to make donations to C.H.A.R.M. at 6560 N. Chestnut Street, Ravenna, Ohio 44266 C/O Joann.
