Carl Rudolph Saltsman

Carl was born to parents Oscar Warren and Emma Dorene (Hogue) Saltsman in Braceville, Ohio on September 8, 1932. Carl enjoyed a long career as a carpenter and was a member of the Akron Carpenters Union. His love of boating, motorcycles and camping brought him many years of participation with the Ravenna Boat Club where he was a past Commodore, the G-2 Bike Club and Good Sam Hot Seat Club. In his earlier years, he also enjoyed socializing at the Ravenna Moose Club and later woodworking kept him occupied. He and his wife Maxine loved traveling the country with their RV, many times taking the grandkids with them and wintering in Florida for many years.

Carl is survived by his wife of 68 years, Maxine (Kissel) and his children: David (Sheri) Saltsman, Carl Richard “Rick” (Juanita) Saltsman, Margie (John Fahrer) Bryte and Karen (Donovan) Hysell. He also leaves his beloved 15 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He will be forever cherished by his surviving siblings Kenneth Saltsman and Goldie (Danny) Harper, along with many loving nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and 4 siblings.

Friends will be received at the Wood-Kortright-Borkoski Funeral Home, 703 E. Main St., Ravenna, on Saturday, October 15, 2022 from 10:00 to 11:00am. Funeral services, officiated by Chaplain William Wisniewski, will begin at 11:00am. Interment will immediately follow at Grandview Memorial Park.
