William H Sullivan passed peacefully Saturday April 6, 2013 at Life Care Hospice Center in Wilmington NC at the age of 87. Bill was born January 30, 1926 to William M and Helen Sullivan in Brooklyn NY. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 59 years, Millie Sullivan, his son Robert, and his brother Robert. Surviving are his children, son Bil, of Sequin TX, daughter Lois Watson and husband John of Wilmington NC and son Scott and wife Tracy also of Wilmington as well as brother Edward and his wife Barbara of Murrell‘s Inlet SC, 6 grandsons, one granddaughter and one great-granddaughter.
Bill was a World War II Veteran with service in the Navy enlisting at the age of 17. Later, he worked as a salesman for many years and will be remembered in New Jersey as one of the founders of the East Windsor Volunteer Fire Dept where he served as Fireman, President and later as Fire Marshall before moving to Raleigh NC. In Raleigh he was employed by Brame Specialty Corp and after retiring started his second career at the State Legislature as Sergeant of Arms. He attended Hope Lutheran Church in Wake Forest NC. More recently he resided in Wilmington NC at The Woods at Holly Tree where he had made many dear friends.
Bill’s enthusiasm for life and civic work will be remembered by many. A graveside service will be held at Raleigh Memorial Park in Raleigh NC at 2pm Saturday April 13th.
