Wanda is survived by her son, Mark D Williams, and wife Yvette, of Greensboro, by her daughter Paula Allison and husband Randy of Willow Spring, and by her son Kent H Williams and wife Sharon of Raleigh. She is also survived by grandchildren Joshua and Hunter Williams of Greensboro, Zachary Williams and wife Kelsey of Seattle, Taylor Allison and wife Cathy of Durham, Stephanie Allison of Spring Lake and Hannah Williams of Raleigh.
Wanda was born December 21, 1929 in Jasper, Alabama. She was a graduate of Judson College where she was May Queen in 1951. Wanda was married to Paul on July 31, 1954 and raised three children while living in Atlanta and Raleigh. After raising her children she went to Wake Tech for library science, then worked many happy years at Athens Drive Library. She would say, however, that being "Meema" to her six grandchildren was her favorite job.
She was an active member at Hayes Barton Baptist Church for all 55 years in Raleigh. She loved to regularly tune in to local sports and Jeopardy, and shared in many enjoyable activities with Paul, including taking bus trips, attending musical programs, bird watching, and solving crossword puzzles.
A Memorial Service, officiated by Rev. Kristen Muse, will be held on Saturday, February 6, 2021 at 2:00 pm at the Mausoleum Chapel at Raleigh Memorial Park. Live Streaming will be offered - beginning at 1:55 pm - through the Facebook page of Mitchell Funeral Home at Raleigh Memorial Park so all may attend virtually.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Wanda to Alzheimer's Association or Hayes Barton Baptist Church.
